i have a compaq but utilized a Emachines disc to wipe it. anybody know how to fix this?

most producers discs only function with their machines. That is possibly what happened. You need to have a compaq disc. Either way, the only way to fix this is to get a very good windows disc and do a repair installation.

some compaq computers don’t use a restore disk at all you just hit an f-key at start up google your compaq model for windows restore see what you come up with
Uh-oh – Emachines recovery disk is only compatible with Emachines BIOS – I saw that somewhere just recently.
There are XP disks for sale on Ebay at reasonable prices – get one with SP2 if you can. Install that, get it all working, then download SP3
it is mainly due to problem in OS stated as corrupted xp so please format with genuine xp or contact the nearby service provider where you bought your pc
